After a long career spent on the fringes of attention and appreciation, it is oddly appropriate that Ashley Theophane's first British fight in eight years will take place in the virtual silence of a television study on Friday.
One of Britain's most committed and durable road warriors turned 40 in August and with his light-middleweight bout against Sam Eggington in Redditch, he will simultaneously stage a homecoming and say his goodbye.
His plan is to fight Eggington, and hoa tam giác mạch so long as he wins, he will then box once more abroad before calling time on a successful career that never received the attention it warranted over here.

To date, he has 50 wins, eight defeats and a draw spanning his 17 years as a professional, with the highlights of a British light-welterweight title and a shot at the WBA world belt against Adrien Broner in 2016, during a three-year spell in which Theophane was signed to [/sport/floydmayweather/index.html Floyd Mayweather]'s promotional stable.

It is a good body of work, made unique for how far and wide he has travelled - Theophane's past 10 fights alone have been staged in 10 different countries from Dubai to Ghana, and none of his past 23 have been on these shores.

Out of sight has often meant being out of mind, so the Londoner is hoping to make one final imprint on British memories against Eggington, du lịch hà giang with the fight headlining a Mick Hennessy card on Channel 5.
‘A year ago I had my 50th win and at that stage I felt content and could retire but I have had this feeling that I would like to fight at home,' Theophane said.

‘It is has been a long time. I mean, eight and a half years. It's why I wanted this.
‘Sam has been British, European and commonwealth champion, so it is a great way for me to go out. He likes to have a war, he's a good fighter, and I just want to be able to show people what I can do, to show them before I go.
‘I will probably then have one more fight abroad and then I am done.

I have achieved what I wanted to achieve more or less. Right now, if you look at the scene it is all these young guys and I am old. I have done everything I am going to do in the sport and kynghidongduong.vn I don't want to keep going at these young guys, because it is hard.'

He added: ‘I left Mayweather two and a half years ago because I wanted to fight at home but I couldn't get any fights here, so that is why I went on this tour around the world, fighting everywhere.
‘Even before I went with Mayweather I had done the majority of my big fights abroad, in the US, so I am probably more known there than here.
‘I'm cool with it.

I would say from the fighters, I have the respect I deserve over here but not necessarily people watching. The professionals know how tough the sport is and sometimes you just don't get the breaks here, which is probably what happened with me.
Theophane was formerly part of legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather's promotional stable
'I wanted to fight here, of course I did.

But it goes that way sometimes, so I looked for my breaks in the US.
‘I don't regret any of that. I achieved a huge amount in boxing and when I was a kid that just didn't look possible. I have friends in jail, so to have had the career I had, I have no complaints.
I went to America, fought world champions, trained with Floyd Mayweather - the best of his era. That is important to me. He bought me a car, and when he came over in March, we caught up - to call him a friend is nice, and it's come from my career.
‘It is nearly over now, so to have one last fight at home is a nice box to tick.'
