The [/news/bbc/index.html BBC] recently teased viewers and claimed hit sitcom Gavin and Stacey would be back 'one day', following last year's successful [/news/christmas/index.html Christmas] special.
However creator Ruth Jones dashed hopes during an appearance on This Morning on Friday, as she admitted the show 'may never return to Barry'.
The Welsh actress and writer, 53, admitted she has no plans to start writing a new script for the programme, especially as her co-writer James Cordon lives in the U.S.

Following the 2019 festive special, fans of the show have been crying out for another one-off episode, based on the lives of Gavin [Mathew Horne] and Stacey [Joanna Page], and their best mates Nessa and Smithy, played by Ruth and James.

The final scene in the episode ended on a huge cliffhanger as Nessa got down on one knee and proposed to unlikely love interest Smithy, who she shares son Neil with following a night of passion in series one.
Speaking to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford about likelihood of giving fans an answer to the question, Ruth said: 'There aren't any plans to write anything.

Fan Kirstie Smith spotted them while out with her boyfriend, and managed to get a snap of the pair.
Unable to pose with them due to COVID-19 rules and social distancing, the actors happily smiled at her through a perspex screen for the photo. 
She later told [ ]: 'I was so chuffed to see them but obviously gutted due to what's going on I couldn't actually go up to them properly but at least I managed to get a quick picture.'
Someone else who saw the duo on the same night tweeted: 'Don't want anyone to lose their s**t but I've just seen Gavin and Stacey in Cardiff walking past me.
